POLICY ON ANONYMOUS LETTERS

Occasionally we receive written correspondence from people who have concerns, complaints or who are worried about something. Such letters rarely contain sufficient information to allow appropriate action to be taken to deal with the matter about which the writer is concerned.  For this reason, and also because we have to protect innocent parties from malicious allegations, we ask that all such correspondence be signed and contain contact information.  We understand that people sometimes have genuine worries about identifying themselves in this way.  For our part, we can assure you that we will listen carefully to what you have to say.  We will treat the matter as confidential, though certain types of information may have to be shared with the civil authorities, for example, if you believe a crime has been committed.  You should also be aware that the law provides certain protections to people who report child protection concerns, provided that they do so in good faith.
